The first double header if the IPL 2021 came to the pleasing end for the Delhi capitals and Punjab kings fans. An outstanding day for the crazy cricket fans. Delhi capitals beat Rajasthan Royals and Punjab kings beat Sunrisers Hyderabad on Saturday.
DC vs RR
The first match of Saturday double header was between DC and RR. RR won the toss and decided to bowl first. The decision was favouring also, the RR bowlers bowl exceptionally well in the power play. First highest run scorer in IPL 2021 got out while playing the ball with soft hand and the ball hit the stump softly after middling the bat. Attacking Prithvi Shaw was out of his attacking character in front of RR's slower and calculative bowling. Shaw trying to hit the ball for a six but the ball went up to high and drop in the Livingston's safe hands. The score was 21 for 2 in the 4.1 over. Now the batting duty was in Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer. They carry on the innings till Rishabh Pant got out by Mustafizur Rehman on a individual score of 24 on 24 deliveries. Iyer was trying to add as much as run possible. Hetmyre played a short but impactful knock. Finally delhi gathered the total of 154 for 6.
The starting of RR innings also full of disappointment. Livingston and Jaiswal the new opening pair came to bat,but on the last ball of the first over Livingston git out by Avesh Khan. The very next ball i.e. 2nd over first ball Jaiswal got out by A. Nortje. The score was 6 for 2. In the 4.2 over David Miller also got out by R. Ashwan, now the score was 17 for 3. RR batters were failed totally except the skipper Sanju Samson. He was standing in the crease but no other batter supported him. Samson scored 70 not out. RR short 33 runs and lost the game against DC.
Shreyas Iyer got the man of the match award.
PBKS vs SRH
The second match of the first double header was between Punjab Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad. Although It was a low scoring match but it was full of excitement.
PBKS invited to bat first by the SRH. The runs were not coming from anyone's bat. PBKS lost their openers in the 27 runs. A. Markram was the highest run scorer for PBKS scoring 27 in 32 deliveries. These was no other batted significantly for PBKS. PBKS managed to gathered a total of 125 for 7. It was obvious that defending 125 in an IPL match is very very difficult.
But the bowlers of PBKS and immaturity of the SRH batters make the score a safe total. Only Wriddhaman Shah and Jason Holder batted well. Specially if any single batsman just supported Holder then the result of the match could be different.
SRH lost the match by 5 runs. Jason Holder was 47 not out in just 29 deliveries. PBKS bowlers were bowled exceptionally well.
Jason Holder got the man of the match award.
