IPL 2022 retained players and their performance in IPL 2021.

Since IPL is the biggest and most exciting cricket league in the world, it's players and auction also stay in the limelight. The upcoming 2022 IPL season is the 15th season of the league. And the BCCI has decided to make it bigger. So the new team are added name as Ahemdabad and Lucknow. BCCI has also planned a mega auction for the upcoming season.

So the frenchaies are instructed to retain only 4 players from their existing team and all the released players will go into the auction table. In between this, the new teams can choose 3 players before the auction. All the existing 8 teams have prepared their list of retaintion. 

Lets see the list of retained players and their performance in IPL 2021.

CSK retained players 

Chennai is the defending champion. CSK has retained 4 players, 3 Indians and 1 foreign player. 

1. Ravinder Jadeja:- Ravinder Jadeja is the first retaintion of Chennai super kings, it means Jadeja will get 16 crores for the upcoming IPL. Jadeja performance in the IPL 2021 was superlative. There was a big contribution of Jadeja for Chennai to win the championship. 

In the 2021 IPL Jadeja impressed everyone with his allrounding performance. In the 12 innings Jadeja scored 227 runs with 145.51 strike rate. where he smash 9 sixes and 19 fours. It is important to note that Jadeja came to bat in 5 6 number and at that number it very much impressive stat. In the match against RCB Jadeja smashed 37 runs in the last over to purple cap holder Harshal Patel. Jadeja's batting average is highest in this season i.e. 75.67.

With the ball also Jadeja is a match winner. In the 16 innings he picked up 13 wickets. And there is no doubt about his fielding.

2. MS Dhoni:- The captain cool,the Thala is the 2nd retaintion for the team yellow. Dhoni's performance with the bat in this season is disappointing. And the simple reason is that he is retaired from the international cricket. In the 11 innings Dhoni managed to score 114 runs with 106.54 strike rate. But it's Dhoni's captaincy that make the team champion. 

3. Rituraj Gaikwad:- Undoubtedly Rituraj Gaikwad is the most impressive batsman of the IPL 2021. He is the most run scorer and orange cap holder. In the 16 innings he scored 635 runs with 136.27 strike rate. He hit 64 fours and 23 sixes. He along with  faf were giving a good start everytime. 

4. Moeen Ali:- Like Jadeja Moeen Ali is also an asset for the team in yellow. It was an incredible season for Moeen Ali. In the 15 innings he scored 357 runs with 137.31 strike rate with 31 fours and 19 sixes.

MI retained players 

MI is the most title winning team of the IPL. For the upcoming edition of IPL MI paltan has retained 4 players.

1. Rohit Sharma:- it is no surprise that Rohit Sharma is the first choice of MI. It was not good season for MI,they didn't even qualify for the playoffs. As a batsman Rohit Sharma in IPL 2021 made 381 runs in 13 innings with a decrease strike rate of 127.42 which include 33 fours and 14 sixes.

2. Suryakumar Yadav:- Mumbai Indians has retained Suryakumar Yadav. Surya performance in last three seasons of IPL is very very impressive,but the IPL 2021 for Suryakumar is an average season. In the IPL 14 he scored 317 runs in 14 innings with 142.44 strike rate that comprised of 40 fours and 10 sixes. As Mumbai has retained him he will definitely try to give his best in IPL 2022.

3. Keiron Pollard:- West Indies players are supposed to be the specialist of T20. And the big man Keiron Pollard is a monster in T20 cricket and IPL as well. He batted really well as a finisher. In the 13 innings he scored 245 runs with 148.48 strike rate where he smashed 16 fours and 16 sixes. The match against CSK he single handedly won the match for Mumbai Indians. Captain used him as a bowler according to the situation of the match. He also picked up 5 wickets in the 9 innings. Pollard is a multi dimensional player having all the skill a T20 cricketer need. 

4. Jasprit Bumrah:- There is no doubt about it that Bumrah is one of the greatest T20 bowler. Every team want Bumrah in their playing 11, so as MI retained him. It was a pretty well season for Bumrah as a bowler, despite he bowled crusial overs of the match. He got 21 wickets from 14 innings in IPL 2021.

KKR retained players 

KKR retained 4 players from the core team and the retained players are as below

1. Andre Russell:- Multi dimensional player, power hitter and a benifitial bowler. In IPL 2021 he managed to score 183 score in 9 innings with 152.50 strike rate that include 14 fours and 14 sixes. As bowler also he did a good job. In the 8 innings he grabbed 11 wickets which includes a 5 wickets haul against Mumbai Indians. 

2. Venkatesh Iyer:- It is a glorious story. No one heard the name before the second phase of IPL 2021. Venkatesh Iyer has played only 10 matches for KKR and KKR retained him. In the 10 innings of second phase of IPL 2021 the left handed batsman scored 370 runs with 128.47 strike rate which include 37 fours and 14 sixes. He not only open the innings but also bowl medium fast. He got 3 wickets in the 4 matches he bowled.

3. Sunil Narain:- Sunil Narain is retained by KKR. He is playing for years now still batters confused with his deliveries and throw their wickets. This year Narain picked 16 wickets from 14 innings. 

4. Varun Chakravarty:- He is the another retaintion by KKR frenchaies. He has earned his name as a mystery spinner from his performance in last two years. This year he received 18 wickets from 17 innings.

DC retained players

Delhi capitals also retained 4 players.

1. Rishabh Pant:- Rishabh Pant is the first retaintion of Delhi capitals. In IPL 2021 in absence of Shreyash Iyer in the first leg Rishabh lead the team. Pant is going to be the captain this year also. He is a wicket keeper, captain and an attacking batsman. In the 14 edition of IPL he scored 419 runs with 128.53 strike rate where he hit 42 fours and 10 sixes.

2. Prithvi Shaw:- He is absolutely a special talent. He is the mixture of Sehwag, Sachin and Lara. In IPL 2021 as an opener he scored 479 runs from 15 innings with gorgeous 159.14 strike rate, that include 56 boundary and 18 sixes.

3. Axar Patel:- Axar is a benifitial All-rounder. He bowl and bat left handedly. He can give the team some extra runs in the later over. But this year he could impress the fans with bat, but picked up 15 wickets from 12 innings. Delhi invested in him as an asset for the future. It will be interesting how Axar Patel perform in the upcoming season.

4. Anrich Nortje:- He has impressed everyone with his pace and wicket hitting capability. He has set the record for the quickest delivery of all IPL season i.e. over 156 kmph. In IPL 2021 he played 8 matches and picked up 12 wickets. 

RR retained players

Rajasthan royals retained 3 players.

1. Sanju Samson:- He is the captain of the team and wicket keeper as well. He is the first retaintion for 14 crore. In IPL 2021 he scored 484 runs from 14 innings with a strike rate of 136.72, that contained 45bfours and 17 sixes. 

2. Josh Buttler:- He is a world class player with standout capability of making runs. He played only 7 matches in IPL 2021 and in those games he made 254 runs with 153 strike rate with 13 sixes and 27 fours. 

3. Yashasvi Jaiswal:- This young Indian talent is the third retention of Rajasthan royals.  This year he showed that he can play attacking cricket. In IPL 2021 he scored 249 runs from 10 innings with a strike rate of 148.21 that include 32 fours and 10 sixes. 

RCB retained players 

RCB has retained 3 players.

1. Virat Kohli:-  Virat Kohli is the heart and heartbeat of the team. He confirmed that he will not be the captain of RCB, he will contribute the team as player only. Under his captaincy this year the team reached the playoffs. Kohli scored 405 runs from 15 innings with 119.47 strike rate. He smashed 43 fours and 9 sixes in IPL 2021. 

2. Glenn Maxwell:- It was a very fortunate decision for RCB that the bought Maxwell in the previous auction. Maxwell gave his best in terms of batting, bowling and fielding in IPL 2021. Maxwell scored 513 runs from 15 innings with a strike rate of 144.10 and that include 48 fours and 21 sixes. As a bowler he bowled in 6 innings and got 3 wickets.

3. Mohammad Siraj:- Siraj is the third retention for RCB. He is an emerging first bowler performing relentlessly from last three seasons and improving every year. In IPL 2021 he got 11 wickets from 15 innings.

SRH retained players

SRH has retained 3 players.

1. Kane Williamson:- He is the captain of the team and the first retaintion. IPL 2021 was a nightmare for all SRH fans and the team. In IPL 2021 Williamson played 10 matches and make 226 runs with a strike rate of 113.19 that include 29 fours and 2 sixes. 

2. Abdul Samad:- SRH invested in young talents. Abdul Samad is a young all-rounder from Kashmir. He is a right hand batsman and bowl right arm spin. But the IPL 2021 did not go well for him, he scored 111 runs only from 10 innings with 127 strike rate with 4 fours and 8 sixes.

3. Umran Malik:- As we said SRH invested in young talents, Umran Malik is another example. He has played only 3 matches and still the frenchaies retained him. Because he can bowl 150 kmph speed continuously. In the 3 innings he git 2 wickets. 

PBKS retained players

Punjab kings retained only 2 players.

1. Mayank Agrawal:- He is the first retaintion for PBKS. He opens the innings fir his team from last 2 season. In IPL 2021 he scored 441 runs from 12 innings with a strike rate of 140.45 the contain 42 fours and 18 sixes.

2. Arshdeep Singh:- This left hand fast bowler is the second retaintion of the team. In IPL 2021 he bowled really well. In the 12 innings he picked up 18 wickets and there was a 5 wickets haul also included in this.
